Designed for a young couple and their beloved pet, this bathroom project in Leiden demonstrates how thoughtful planning can completely transform an underutilized space into a highly functional and harmonious environment.
The original 13-square-metre bathroom contained only a compact shower area, a washbasin, and a towel radiator, leaving a significant portion of the room unused. Our goal was to maximize the potential of the space while maintaining a calm and elegant atmosphere.
Bathroom
In addition to the existing functions, we integrated a semi-freestanding bathtub, a toilet, and a dedicated area for an automatic self-cleaning cat litter box.
Numerous carefully considered details and storage solutions were incorporated throughout the design, reflecting the clients’ everyday needs and lifestyle.
Materials & atmosphere
The interior is defined by a palette of soft, natural tones and tactile materials. Natural wood elements are paired with matte textured tiles inspired by the appearance of stone found in nature, creating a warm and timeless aesthetic.
Subtle integrated lighting enhances the atmosphere without relying on strong contrasts or decorative accents, contributing to a sense of comfort and serenity. The result is a bathroom that feels spacious, functional, and effortlessly balanced—a contemporary retreat designed around the daily routines of both its owners and their four-legged companion.
